Some Guidelines That Will Help You As A Parent

As a parent now for nearly sixteen years I actually understand the fine balance between toddler discipline, and squashing the spirit of a child.

When my first child Ellie was born I was totally new at this thing called parenting, and I discovered most of the parenting books to be contradictory at best and a few simply silly at worst. This may seem harsh to some new parents who are looking for a right path as a parent.

I can understand as being a parent is really a tricky business particularly when it comes to discipline and particularly toddler discipline, if you go for the free range approach and just let your children kind of develop in the vain expect all is going to be fine, then you'll probably be living some kind of living nightmare, with your child completely dictating the agenda and totally running your life.

On the other hand if you go for total discipline as favored by numerous through the years, then you be in danger of completely losing the real essences of your children's character.

I would like to say that their is a holy grail of toddler discipline, that you can follow and tick off the list as you go, and trust me many individuals would try to sell it off to you like that. The way I see it, it's about two core things boundaries and communication especially as your son or daughter starts to get to the toddler stage and further than.

I still find this to be with my 16 and 13 old children, I have what i call my fall back position, that's as far as I will go on any given issue, that's my boundary that in most cases my kids over a few years have learnt to understand, however within those boundaries their is a lot of opportunities of freedom of expression and chances to grow as individuals which I personally feel is vital.

To do this though good communication is key when implementing toddler discipline, to this end I have been really privileged to have learnt things for example NLP that have assisted me shape my language skills and body language to get maximum engagement with my kids.
